Issues Management Committee

The Issues Management committee is responsible for communicating with government officials here in the state of California and in the nation's capital.

The issues taken up by the Issues Management committee includes, but are not limited to, the continuation and improvement of the Market Access Program (MAP) program, regulatory matters such as Sulfuryl Fluoride, Methyl Bromide and Mancozeb, unfair trade practices such as restricted phytosanitary protocols in markets like Korea and others.

A former member of the Agricultural Marketing Service, which is part of the USDA, represents the Commission in Washington, D.C. This allows us to have current information on essential issues and to provide input quickly to decision-makers when an issue of importance is being rendered. Several members of the Issues Management committee travel to Washington, D.C. at least once a year to discuss key issues with legislators as well as members of departments with whom we are involved with such as USDA/FAS, FDA, EPA, USTR (United State Trade Representative) and the like.
