RECIPE CRITERIA

All recipes entered into the “Smart Salads” Recipe Contest must contain English walnuts. Recipes that contain black walnuts will be disqualified as will recipes that do not contain any walnuts. Walnut oil may be used in recipes, but recipes containing walnut oil must also contain English walnuts (e.g. walnut halves, chopped walnuts, etc.)

Recipes must contain at least 1 tablespoon of walnuts per serving. For example, a recipe that serves four people must contain at least ¼ cup (four tablespoons) walnuts.

RECIPE SUBMISSIONS

Recipes can only be submitted by registered contestants on www.walnuts.org.

Recipes must be submitted into one of the following categories:

  • Entrees Salads
  • Side Salads
  • Fruit Salads

A single recipe may only be submitted in one category, but contestants may submit as many recipes as they choose.

When submitting their recipes, contestants must attest to the fact that, to the best of their knowledge, their recipe submissions are original creations and not the copyrighted property of another individual, corporation or other legal entity.

Once submitted online, all recipes become the property of the California Walnut Marketing Board. Entry constitutes permission to edit, modify, adapt, publish and otherwise use the recipe in any way without compensation.

By entering this contest, entrants grant consent to use winners' name and likeness for editorial, advertising and publicity purposes, without further compensation (except where prohibited).

All Contest rules are subject to change by the California Walnut Marketing Board without notice.

Once an entry is submitted, the recipe will be available for review and rated by other participants. However, these ratings will not affect the final judging for Grand Prize consideration.
