Ingredients

  • 14 ounce ball whole-wheat pizza dough
  • 1/2 cup California walnuts, finely chopped
  • 6 tablespoons Parmesan cheese, grated
  • 1 tablespoon fresh rosemary, chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • Olive oil cooking spray
  • Freshly ground sea salt and pepper to taste

Preparation

  1. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Press pizza dough into a flat disc on a lightly floured board. Sprinkle with walnuts, 4 tablespoons cheese, rosemary and garlic.
  3. Fold in half and knead briefly to mix ingredients into dough. (If dough becomes too stiff, set it aside for a few minutes.)
  4. Divide into eight equal pieces and roll into 1/2-inch thick strips. Fold in half and twist several times.
  5. Place on a parchment-lined baking sheet and coat with cooking spray.
  6. Sprinkle with remaining cheese and let stand in a warm spot for 30 minutes.
  7. Preheat oven to 400ºF.
  8. Coat with cooking spray once more and bake for 10 minutes or until golden brown.
