California Walnuts | Essential Food for Health
harvest fruit salad
This a is a great refreshing salad to serve at picnics or a light lunch and the kids love it my family always go camping Labor Day weekend and this is a must if I don't make it I don't hear the end of it all weekend.

Ingredients
1 red delicious apple
1 granny smith apple
1 Macintosh apple
1 cup green seedless grapes halved
1/2 cup California English walnuts
3/4 cup Stony Fields Farm French vanilla yogurt
2 bananas
Directions
Roast walnuts for 10 min. @ 350 and let cool
Cut up apples into bite sized pieces skin on
Halve grapes
Halve and slice up bananas
Coarsely chop walnuts
Toss in a bowl
Mix in yogurt

for several reasons the first being the original came from a salad my grandmother would make at Thanksgiving so it has a whole lot of good memories for me. I have updated it however and made it more healthy, first I took out the whip cream (homemade) and substituted yogurt it gives it a more refreshing and contemporary flavor, then i just took out the marshmallows they made it two sweet, and finally I don't use candied walnuts any the roasted walnuts give it a better rustic flavor.
