David Katz, MD, MPH, FACPM, FACP, will be presenting this webinar, sponsored by the California Walnut Commission. Dr. Katz is the founding director of the Yale-Griffin Prevention Research Center and is known internationally for his expertise in nutrition, weight management, and chronic disease prevention. In this webinar, Dr. Katz will discuss the findings of a review of current literature, trends and new research in regard to diabetes and diet that may result in net improvements in overall diet quality and cardiac risk measures. Dr. Katz will speak to the important role of diabetes educators in ongoing diabetes nutrition education and share how you can expand your knowledge base about the role specific foods can play in the management of diabetes.
At the end of this presentation, participants will be able to:
- Describe the current state of diabetes in the US and its impact on health
- Discuss what is currently known about optimal dietary patters for diabetes and the influence of foods on health, specifically diabetes
- Describe strategies that can help improve diet and health, one well informed choice at a time.
