Grower Information

More than 99% of the walnuts in U.S. are grown in the fertile soils of California’s Central Valley. And this is made possible by the efforts of the 4000 or so family farms that have been growing walnuts of the highest quality for over a century.

The vast majority of the growers are family operations having been run by the families for two or more generations. The industry employs more than 60,000 individuals directly and indirectly. California walnuts are also one of the top exports from the state, ranking 4th (2011) in the UC Agricultural Issues Center export data publication. For information on sustainability, click here.
