Jamie Lauren

Currently the executive chef at Absinthe Brasserie & Bar in San Francisco, Jamie Lauren’s interest in the culinary arts started at a relatively young age, cooking with her parents, in Manhattan. From the relatively humble beginning, Lauren rose to be one of San Francisco Chronicle’s “Rising-Star Chefs” in 2005. Lauren has continued to receive accolades from both local and national level media by elevating the cuisine at Absinthe since she was named executive chef in the summer of 2007. By the end of the following year, she was named a Restaurant Hospitality “Rising Star Chef 2008.” Lauren was also selected as the sole Bay Area "Cheftestant" on season 5 of Bravo TV's award-winning show "Top Chef" which aired in 2009. An honors graduate of the Culinary Institute of America, Lauren has had the opportunity to work with many acclaimed chefs in the past, including Anita Lo of Annisa in New York City; Lance Dean Velasquez of Bendean in Berkeley, California; and Jean-Michel Bouvier, of L’Essential in Chambéery, France. Lauren credits these chefs for teaching her how to meld exotic flavors and ingredients.
