Official Rules & Regulations for the Add Crunch to Lunch Recipe Challenge

TIMELINE

The Add Crunch to Lunch Recipe Challenge begins at 12:01 a.m. PST, August 1, 2011 and entries will be accepted online through 11:59 p.m. PST October 30, 2011. Judging to select the three finalists will take place between November 1, 2011 and November 9, 2011. The three finalists will be notified by November 9, 2011.

The public voting will begin on November 10, 2011 and conclude at 11:59 p.m. PST December 2, 2011. The Grand Prize winner will be notified between December 5, 2011 and December 9, 2011, and will be announced to the public on December 12, 2011.

PRIZE NOTIFICATION

Each week, three random winners will be chosen from all new qualifying recipes. Drawings will take place on Monday for the previous week’s qualifying contestants. Winners will receive one of a variety of prizes such as Add Crunch to Lunch Backpack, Add Crunch to Lunch Chef’s Kit, and other fun prizes.

Weekly winners will be notified via email on the following dates:

The three finalists will be notified by November 9, 2011. Those chosen must provide helmet size to ensure the proper size is ordered.

The Grand Prize winner will be notified by phone or email between December 5, 2011 and December 9, 2011.

ELIGIBILITY

This challenge is only open to legal residents of the United States who are at least 18 years of age as of August 1, 2011 and who are legal United States residents residing in one of the 50 States or the District of Columbia at the time of the challenge. Individual contestants can enter the challenge only once a week.

The officers, directors, employees, contractors, prize providers and agents of the California Walnut Board and the immediate families and those living in the same household of any of the above are not eligible.

All federal, state and local rules and regulations apply.

CHALLENGE ENTRIES

Each recipe entry must contain a valid first and last name, a valid e-mail address, a valid daytime phone number and a valid U.S. mailing address. Failure to comply with these regulations may result in forfeiture of prizes.

Once submitted online, all recipes, photos and videos become the property of the California Walnut Board. Entry constitutes permission to edit, modify, adapt, publish and otherwise use the recipe in any way without compensation.

By entering this challenge, entrants grant consent to use winners' name and likeness for editorial, advertising and publicity purposes, without further compensation (except where prohibited).

All challenge rules are subject to change by the California Walnut Board without notice.

Once an entry is submitted, the recipe will be available for review and rated by other participants. However, these ratings will not affect the final judging for Grand Prize, finalists or randomly selected winner consideration.

JUDGING CRITERIA

Odds of winning depend upon the number and quality of entries received.
Winners will be notified and prizes will be sent to them.

Criteria for winning the Add Crunch to Lunch Recipe Challenge include:

Judging Criteria

California Walnut Board representatives will review all recipes. Recipes not meeting the eligibility criteria will be eliminated. Recipes that qualify will be tasted/judged by a panel of food and health professionals. Each recipe will receive a score of 0 to 100 based on the following criteria:

  1. Taste (25%) Is the recipe an appetizing choice for a packed lunch?
  2. Appeal (25%) Does this recipe sound appealing to kids? Would students like to make/eat this item?
  3. Use of Walnuts (25%) Does this recipe use walnuts in a creative, new or unique way?
  4. Simplicity (25%) Is this convenient and simple enough for a packed lunch?

LIMITATIONS ON LIABILITY

The California Walnut Board is not responsible for any damage to participant's computer occasioned by participation in this challenge. By entering and participating in the Sweepstakes, each entrant agrees on behalf of itself and each of entrant’s heirs, executors, and administrators (A) to release and hold harmless the California Walnut Board and its respective officers, directors, and employees (collectively, “Released Parties”) from any and all liability, rights claims and causes of action that entrant may have or which may arise against the Released Parties for any illness, injury, death, loss, litigation, or personal or property damage that may occur, directly or indirectly, whether caused by negligence or not, from such entrant’s participation in the or Sweepstakes and/or his/her acceptance, possession, use, or misuse of Prize or any portion thereof (including any travel related thereto); (B) that Released Parties have neither made nor are in any manner responsible or liable for any warranty, representation or guarantee express or implied, in fact or in law, with respect to any Prize, including, without limitation, to such Prize’s quality or fitness for a particular purpose; and (C) to be bound by these Official Rules and to waive any right to claim any ambiguity or error therein or in the Sweepstakes itself, and to be bound by all decisions of the California Walnut Board, which are binding and final. Failure to comply with these conditions may result in disqualification from the Sweepstakes at the sole discretion of the California Walnut Board.

The California Walnut Board makes no warranties, and hereby disclaims any and all warranties, express or implied, concerning any Prize furnished in connection with the Sweepstakes. WITHOUT LIMITING THE GENERALITY OF THE FOREGOING, SUCH PRIZES ARE PROVIDED “AS IS” WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, AND THE CALIFORNIA WALNUT BOARD HEREBY DISCLAIMS ALL SUCH WARRANTIES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO, THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE AND/OR NON-INFRINGEMENT.

By acceptance of prize, and except where prohibited by law, winners consent to use of name and/or photograph for publicity purposes without further compensation. Void where prohibited by law.
