NOT Your Ordinary Fruitcake........Cookies

This cookie is not like any fruitcake you have ever tasted! A delicious combination of sweet and crunchy!!

Ingredients

1/4 cup butter

1 cup brown sugar

4 eggs

3 tablespoons milk

2 1/2 cups flour

(save 1/2 cup to flour fruit and nuts)

2 teaspoons baking soda

1 teaspoon cloves

1 teaspoon cinnamon

1 teaspoon nutmeg

1/2 lb. candied cherries

1/2 lb. candied pineapple

Note: Buy mixed green and red pineapple

4 cups chopped walnuts

2 1/2 cups dates (sugared, chopped)

Directions: Pre-heat oven to 325 degrees

Cream butter and sugar, then add eggs, one at a time. Blend in the milk and all of the spices (use mixer). In a large bowl, flour fruit and nuts. Mix everything together (it is best to use your hand).

Place teaspoons of dough approximately 2 inches apart on a cookie sheet covered with parchment paper. Bake for about 30 minutes - cookie should be soft to touch. Allow to cool for 5 minutes and then remove from cookie sheet and continue cooling on wire racks. Makes about 6 dozen.

Note: These cookies freeze really well.
