Melt in your mouth cookies with a mildly sweet flavor.  Great with tea, coffee or milk.

  • Servings: 84 cookies
  • Prep Time: 15 minutes plus chillingm
  • Cook Time: 12-15 minutesm
Ingredients
  • 2 1/4 cups sifted flour
  • 1 cup 10X sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp cream of tartar
  • 1/4 tsp baking soda
  • 1 cup soft butter
  • 1 egg (slightly beaten)
  • 2 Tbsp water
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup chopped California Walnuts

Directions
  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Combine flour, salt, sugar, cream of tartar and baking soda in a bowl.  Cut in butter until fine.
  • Add remaining ingredients, mixing to form a dough.
  • Chill for easier handling (about 30 minutes).
  • Shape by teaspoon into balls or logs.  (Roll tops in colored sugar for the holidays)
  • Place on ungreased cookie sheet.  Bake at 350 degrees for 12-15 minutes or until a delicate golden brown.
  • Immediately roll in 10X sugar.  Cool on rack.
  • ENJOY!
