Melt in your mouth cookies with a mildly sweet flavor. Great with tea, coffee or milk.

- Ingredients

- 2 1/4 cups sifted flour
- 1 cup 10X sugar
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp cream of tartar
- 1/4 tsp baking soda
- 1 cup soft butter
- 1 egg (slightly beaten)
- 2 Tbsp water
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup chopped California Walnuts
- Directions

- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- Combine flour, salt, sugar, cream of tartar and baking soda in a bowl. Cut in butter until fine.
- Add remaining ingredients, mixing to form a dough.
- Chill for easier handling (about 30 minutes).
- Shape by teaspoon into balls or logs. (Roll tops in colored sugar for the holidays)
- Place on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 12-15 minutes or until a delicate golden brown.
- Immediately roll in 10X sugar. Cool on rack.
