A buttery, brown sugar confection showcasing delicious toasted walnuts, topped off with a sweet maple crream.  A special treat to share with family and friends!

Ingredients

cooking spray with flour
8 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
1/4 cup sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 1/2 cups all purpose flour
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 1/4 cups toasted chopped California English walnuts
1 cup heavy whipping cream, very cold
1/4 cup pure maple syrup (I used Grade A Dark Amber)

Directions
  1. Heat oven to 350 degrees F. To make the blondies, spray a 9 inch round baking pan with cooking spray. Set aside.
  2. Combine butter, brown sugar and sugar in a large mixing bowl and blend with electric mixer on high speed until well blended. Add in egg and vanilla. Stir flour, cinnamon, salt and baking soda together in a small mixing bowl. Add flour mixture to butter and sugar mixture and blend until just combined. Stir in walnuts. Spread batter in prepared pan.
  3. Place in oven and bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden and done.
  4. To make the maple cream, place whipping cream in a chilled mixing bowl and beat with electric mixer fitted with with chilled beaters on high speed until mixture forms stiff peaks. Fold in maple syrup.
  5. To serve, cut warm blondies into wedges and serve with a dollop of maple cream.

Yield: 8 servings
